The Day You Disappeared

Currently on view through June 15 at Egeskov Fine Arts, Holbergsgade 13, 1057 Copenhagen.
The Day You Disappeared explores coming of age, loss, and transformation, specifically through the experience of a young woman. Intimate, fragmented portraits of the female body are paired with textures like fish scales, glowing seaweed, and shark teeth. The images move between reality and suggestion, building a visual atmosphere rather than a linear story.

"You could hold your breath incredibly long under water. The first few times you stayed out longer than usual, I sat nervously on the beach, scanning the horizon for you. One night, I didn’t see you come up from the waves until almost an hour had passed. My fingers were cold with anxiety. Had you really been underwater for that long, or had the waves kept you hidden? It was clear that you were in your natural element. There was a special light around you as you came out of the water and stepped onto the beach. You shimmered like a sleek fish, and your skin had a greenish-golden glow, as if someone had dusted you with gold.”
